Cameron Victor '23Howdy! My name is Cameron Victor and I am a junior Ocean Engineering major. I plan to land an internship this summer, graduate in May 2023, and enter the workforce as a naval architect. I decided to go to Texas A&M because of the community, culture, and reputation the university had retained for over a century. I am involved in the Human Submarine Club within Ocean Engineering. I am on the Electric Boat team, and we are building a boat from scratch to compete at the end of the school year!
I have been involved in gymnastics since I was 7 years old, have competed over 10 seasons in club gymnastics, and have even coached boy’s classes and tumble classes for a year. I was unsure about continuing my gymnastics career throughout college, but when an old teammate of mine introduced me to the A&M Men’s Gymnastics Team, I knew gymnastics needed to remain a part of my life. During my 3 years on the team, I have competed, practiced through COVID, and have grown with my teammates along the way. I am excited to compete floor and parallel bars this upcoming season, and cannot wait to see what this team can accomplish! Being recognized by FLIPAGS has allowed me to continue my strive to be a well rounded student by allowing me to focus more on education and gymnastics instead of finances. FLIPAGS is a wonderful program, and I thank them for all they do to support Aggie gymnastics!! Tyler Naukam '23My name is Tyler Naukam and I am a junior Mechanical Engineering major graduating in the Spring of 2023. When I was notified that I had been awarded the FLIPAGS scholarship, I could not have been more excited and grateful because I had not been given a scholarship before. It is amazing to think that the FLIPAGS committee chose me and three others for the scholarship. This scholarship has allowed me to focus more on my education and spending time with the team inside and outside of the gym.
The biggest reason I came to Texas A&M and joined the gymnastics team is because of my high school coach Courtney Parker. Without her I would have never known about the TAMU Gymnastics team. This year, my goals are to win Nationals and have fun going to meets with the team. My teammates have been very supportive in the gym, and I cannot wait to see what comes out of this year. With the support of TAMU Gymnastics and FLIPAGS, I am thankful for the environment I have been thrown into. Thank you! |
Renee Woodruff '20My name is Renee (Woodruff) Abbott, and I am a first year PhD student in the Department of Aerospace Engineering. I am part of the Bioastronautics and Human Performance lab, and my research focuses on the psychophysiological effects of long-duration spaceflight. I will (hopefully) graduate again in 2025.
I joined the gymnastics team my sophomore year. Over the course of the next four years, I was a member of the level 9 team and served as the women's team captain from Fall 2020 to Spring 2021. This club introduced me to some of my closest friends and also my husband! I am so grateful for the support of FLIPAGS, which has helped me seize the opportunity to be a part of TAMU Gymnastics. My life as it is today, would not be the same without it. Mykayla Marek '22My name is Mykayla Marek and I am a senior Urban and Regional Planning major with an emphasis in urban design. I am graduating in May of 2022 and will be continuing my education by getting a Master of Urban Planning with an emphasis in transportation planning. I have been involved in multiple undergraduate research opportunities here at A&M. During the 2020-2021 school year I worked under Texas A&M's Hazard Reduction and Recovery Center on two different projects involving natural disaster mitigation research. During the summer of 2021, I completed a research internship with the Texas A&M Transportation Institute and I helped conduct the beginning steps of a cost-benefit analysis for a shared electric vehicle service in Houston.
I joined the gymnastics team my sophomore year of college after taking my freshman year off from the sport. I am currently serving as the team treasurer for the 2021-2022 school year. I have competed as a level 6 for the past 2 years, but this year I am working hard to meet routine requirements to make the level 8 team. I am so grateful that being on this team has led me to meet some of my closest friends and shape my favorite memories in college! With the support of the TAMU Gymnastics Alumni group and the FLIPAGS Committee, I have been able to focus more on school instead of finances and have the ability to increase my involvement on this team. Thank you FLIPAGS! |

Isabel Mlo '20Renee Woodruff '20My name is Renee Woodruff, and I am a senior in aerospace engineering with minors in math and astrophysics. I hope to continue my education here as a graduate student in the aerospace department before going into space systems design or a related field. While my time here as an undergraduate is coming to an end, I could not be happier with having chosen A&M. I have grown to love the plethora of traditions the university is home to and will carry the Aggie Spirit with me long after graduation. This season I hope to help the women's level 9 team secure another national championship and improve upon my individual performance from last year. This club and the people in it have shaped my college experience and many of my best memories of college have been spent with the team. They have become my family and have taught me how to grow both as an athlete and as a person, and I could not be more thankful for the opportunity to be a part of this club.
Madison Maynard '20My name is Madison Maynard and I am a senior Supply Chain Management and Business Honors major with a minor in History. I have served as the President for the team for the past two years and served as the Treasurer during the 2017-2018 school year. I hope to go into the field as a Supply Chain Analyst or as a Consultant in Operations and Logistics, Technology, Management or Human Capital. I am still in the job search but am hoping to move to Chicago and begin full-time work in June after traveling abroad for a few weeks in May.
I chose to attend Texas A&M due to the deep-seated tradition, the core values that are tangible in the student body and because it felt "right" - it felt like home. The gym team gave me a place as well as a smaller, more tangible family and place within the Aggie family when I needed it most. Being a member and leader on the team helped me step out of my comfort zone and become a part of several other organizations, including the Sport Clubs Executive Committee, Fish Camp Crew and becoming a Freshman Busines Initiative Peer Leader. This is my fourth year as a member of the team, and I wouldn't trade my time here for anything - I genuinely do not believe I could have had a more valuable experience in college doing anything else. The Texas A&M Gymnastics Club has truly changed my life, and I am incredibly grateful for the team and all it has and will give to me. |

Isabel Mlo '20My name is Isabel Mlo and I am from Asheville, NC. I am a Junior Structural Engineering Major and have a Sustainable Architecture and Planning Minor. Texas A&M was one of my top schools because of its great reputation for engineering. My choice was solidified when I came to visit the university. It was intriguing to me how connected the campus felt and how close all of the students were, even though this was the largest university I had ever visited. I have come to love the Aggie traditions and embrace the Aggie spirit. After completing my undergrad, I plan to pursue my Masters, become LEED certified, and pursue my professional engineering license. I hope to one day be a leader in Sustainable Building and Design Practices, and work not only in America, but internationally.
The sport of gymnastics has a very special place in my heart. I started when I was only three years old. Before coming to A&M, I was a level 10 for three years. During my first year on the A&M team at our state competition, I won first place on all of the events I competed: bars, beam, and floor. In my second year, I tore my ACL and received knee surgery. While I could not compete, I was still able to serve as the team safety/travel officer and photographer. This year, I am training to come back stronger than ever in competition, also while working as the team’s Vice President and as a Director of the TGC! My goals are to win Nationals as a team again, and to win the national bars title before I graduate. The team has given me wonderful friends that have become my Texas family when my own family is over one thousand miles away. My teammates have made me a happier person and the leadership positions I have held with the team have helped me grow. I love being able to train and compete with people that are as passionate about the sport as I am. Growing up, I never thought I would have such close friends that I could rely on so heavily, and for that, I am truly grateful for the Texas A&M Gymnastics Team every day. With the support of the Gymnastics Team and TAMU Gymnastics Alumni, I am able to continue my schooling at Texas A&M as an out of state student. Especially after my knee surgery, the support I have received has been a blessing. Thank you for taking an interest in me and my story, and thank you to FLIPAGS. Renee Woodruff '20I joined the gymnastics team my sophomore year after transferring to A&M from LSU to pursue a degree in aerospace engineering. I knew that A&M had a club gymnastics team, and I was beyond excited at the chance to do gymnastics again. I had initial worries about meshing well with the team, however, I did not keep those worries for long. I have met, what I predict to be, lifelong friends through the team. As a junior looking back on last year, there is not a single thing I would have changed. As difficult as this sport can be, I loved every minute of every long car ride, every hard practice, every exhilarating routine. It is a privilege to have to opportunity to continue my gymnastics career through college, and I am truly thankful to be a recipient of the FLIPAGS scholarship. FLIPAGS exemplifies the support and strong ties each member, current or former, has to the sport and to each other. While my time competing for the team is limited, I know that my involvement with this sport will not end upon my graduation, and I look forward to watching this club continue to grow in years to come.

The gym team gave me a place and a smaller, more tangible family and place within the Aggie family when I needed it most. It has also provided me with countless opportunities in college from being able to travel around the country and represent Texas A&M to working hand in hand with hundreds of other students in Sport Clubs as part of the Sport Clubs Executive Committee. This is my third year as a member of the team, and any time I may start to doubt my abilities in the sport, or I notice the toll it can take on my body, the people on the team and in the club help remind me how much I love the sport and how it brings together people I might have otherwise never met. The Texas A&M Gymnastics Club has truly changed my life, and I am incredibly grateful for the team and all it has and will give to me. |

Madelyn Fletcher '16In the fall of 2015 I was attempting to juggle two jobs, my role as captain of the women's gymnastics team, and (not to mention...) 16 hours of school. Finances played a huge role in my stresses of that semester as I struggled to to keep up my grades, and make ends meet. Definitely not a time in my life that I want to repeat!
When I was notified that I was to be a recipient of the FLIPAGS scholarship for the spring semester, I could not have been more excited. I was still working two jobs, taking twelve hours and team captain, but thanks to the financial boost that the scholarship helped provide, my stress levels were way down. The spring ended with all A's for me, and the women's team closing an undefeated season with a 4th place finish at nationals. WHOOP! I am so grateful for the Texas A&M Gymnastics alumni that have worked so hard to keep the gymnastics club one of the best that the university has to offer. Thanks and gig 'em, FLIPAGS! Katie Hansen '17Joining the gymnastics team my sophomore year as a transfer student was one of the best decisions I made. It gave me a group to be a part of with people of similar interests as well as a way to be active to relieve stress from studying. At first, I didn't think I would be as committed to the team as I am today, but I appreciate the people who welcomed me on the team and pushed me to be more involved with them. Competing for the Texas A&M Gymnastics Club has provided me with countless stories traveling with the team while getting to meet some of my closest friends. As a senior, returning for my third year competition season, I have continually strengthened my love for gymnastics and Texas A&M University. I am so thankful for the Gymnastics Club for providing such a loving and fun environment to be involved in which is why I have decided to take on the role as the Public Relations officer for the 2016-2017 season. I look forward to spreading the word and help raise money for the team that allows us to continually have the fully equipped on-campus facility and the opportunity to travel and compete at the national level. I am also thankful for our generous donators to the FLIPAGS scholarship fund. I was so excited to be this years recipient to be recognized as an active team member and to be rewarded financially that would be put towards my education. Although I am finishing up my last year on the team, I know I won't be done with the gymnastics club. My support will continue to help the future team members just as it was for me. Thank you all again for your generous contributions!

Austin Chaney '19Being apart of the A&M gymnastics team has made a huge influence on my first year of college. I have met my second family and get to do the sport I love at a collegiate level. Receiving the FLIPAGS scholarship has helped me focus on school and gymnastics without having to worry as much about finances. I am so thankful to the FLIPAGS scholarship committee for providing this great opportunity to myself and other A&M gymnasts. It is very special to know that the alumni care about our gymnastics and academic success. I look forward to my continued involvement with the A&M gymnastics team and FLIPAGS organization.
Connor Tobias '18Gymnastics has been a huge part of my life from when I started in 2006. During the first few years, I had no clue gymnastics would become something that I would purse through college. It has taken me to places I never thought I would go and has played a large role in shaping me into the person I am today. On the team at Texas A&M, I met some of my closest friends and have already made so many lasting memories.
Being awarded the scholarship once was incredible, but receiving it twice is truly a blessing. Receiving the FLIPAGS scholarship my freshman year was such a huge help to me. It not only took some financial strain off of me and my parents, but it made me feel like I was welcome at Texas A&M, specifically on the gymnastics club team. I was so happy to be a part of something outside of academics that I truly enjoyed. It made me want to work harder in the gym and contribute to the club in any way I could. Once I graduate, I plan to remain closely connected to the gymnastics club and continue to grow FLIPAGS. Thank you for this opportunity! |

Meagan Womack '15Many members of the gymnastics club, including myself, feel like the team is their family away from home. This team has been a place I could be myself and seek encouragement from my friends. Because the team meant so much to me, I decided to serve in several officer positions throughout the time I was a part of it to give back. Winning the Flip Ags scholarship was an amazing experience for me. An alumni group coming together to support current members helped solidify that feeling of support and camaraderie I had been feeling since the beginning of my time with the team. It just goes to show that the family created by being a part of the gymnastics team doesn't end when you graduate and move away. I am currently enrolled in medical school, and the money I received from this scholarship is helping me to pursue my dream of one day being a physician.
Thank you so much for considering me for this scholarship. And thank you for your support of the TAMU Gymnastics Club. It means more than you all could ever know. Katherine Thompson '16Being a part of the TAMU Gymnastics Club has been a huge and influential part of my experience at Texas A&M. My freshman year on the team, I found a renewed passion for gymnastics and competing, and I found a team that has become my niche within the Aggie network. Since then, I have had the opportunity to further my involvement in the club as treasurer and then co-president. This has given me the opportunity to observe first-hand the level of dedication and time officers and members have to give year after year to help the club continue to grow and succeed. Balancing the responsibilities of college and club involvement can be difficult, but the recognition and support offered by the FLIPAGS scholarship helps members maintain this balance even with a high level of commitment to the club. Personally, the FLIPAGS scholarship helped lessen my pressure to work extra hours, which allowed me to have more time to devote to the club both as an officer and as a member, practicing and competing the sport I love. I’m thankful to have been a recipient of the FLIPAGS scholarship, and I look forward to my continued involvement with the club.

Connor Tobias '18Joining the gymnastics club as a freshman was one of the best decisions I made my first year at Texas A&M. I was immediately welcomed by all the other members of the club, and I quickly made some very close friends. At the start of the year I had been told a lot about the “Aggie Network” and how many TAMU alumni stay connected with the school long after they graduate. However, I didn’t truly experience that generosity and unity until I heard about FLIPAGS. I was absolutely amazed when I received the FLIPAGS scholarship. I was a brand new member of the club and had only met a few people on the committee by that point. Receiving the scholarship not only helped me financially, but It made me feel even more a part of the TAMU gymnastics club. It made me want to work harder in the gym and contribute to the club in any way I could. Once I graduate, I plan to remain closely connected to the gymnastics club and continue to grow FLIPAGS. Thank you!
Hannah Van Meter '15My senior year on the TAMU Gymnastics team, I focused on fulfilling my PR duties and making sure each new member felt welcomed to the team. The strong dedication within previous officer groups motivated me to step up and fill those big shoes. When I submitted my application for the FlipAgs scholarship, I didn't fully understand the extent to which our alumni gymnast network supports the team. The FlipAgs scholarship I received meant and still means more to me than just the gracious monetary value. Alumni support included donations from the Parkers for meet schedule marketing posters and a brand new team video camera. Most of the alumni spread the word about merchandise orders and placed orders, which was a huge fundraiser for us. Sydney Riegel advised the coordination with the donation letter drive. I am so thankful for the ongoing support that all of the Aggie alumni gymnasts have given as examples to current team members. The FLIPAGS scholarship was the cherry on top because it alleviated financial concerns I had during a pivotal chapter in my gymnastics career as I was finishing up my last season on the team.
